New Jersey and Ohio CEUs for PTs and PTAs
New Jersey CEUs
New Jersey physical therapists and physical therapy assistants are required to complete 30 contact hours of approved CEUs for physical therapists within each 2 year renewal cycle. Additionally, physical therapists and physical therapy assistants must take 2.5 contact hours of ethics CEUs and a jurisprudence module exam. Let's Get Ethical: Ethical Boundaries for PTs/OTs fulfills the ethics requirement for New Jersey physical therapists and physical therapy assistants. Also, 20 of the 30 required CEUs within each biennial cycle must be live. Live webinars are considered live CEUs according to the NJ Board of Physical Therapy. The NJ Board of Physical therapy must approve the CEU courses necessary to satisfy the CEU requirements. Psychology for the Body has approval from the NJ Board of PT on most courses.
Ohio CEUs
Ohio physical therapists must complete 24 contact hours of approved CEUs for physical therapists within each 2 year renewal cycle. Ohio physical therapy assistants have to complete 12 approved CEUs for physical therapists and physical therapy assistants within each 2 year renewal cycle. Each physical therapy CEU course in Ohio must be approved by the Ohio Physical Therapy Association. A physical therapy therapy CEU course in Ohio must have an Ohio approval number. Due to high standards, a physical therapy CEU course in Ohio cannot be approved through reciprocity. On the other hand, an approved physical therapy CEU course in Ohio is accepted by many other states who acknowledge CEUs by an APTA state chapter.
